The MICM team wishes you all a very blessed Resurrection Sunday.
As you celebrate our Risen Savior this year, we ask you to please be in prayer for the persecuted church in India. India is just one of the many places in the world today where Christians and Christian ministries are being violently attacked and even eliminated.
The political situation in India continues to deteriorate for Christians under the government backed Hindu nationalist ideology of Hindutva. Prime Minister Modi and his controlled media suppress news of the violent effects of this extremism, even when it is widespread. For just one example, in Manipur state the majority Christian population has been subjected to assault or killed. Homes and churches have been destroyed. Women have been raped and forced to march naked in front of anti-Christian mobs who are protected by the police.
As many of you know, Vivek and eight of our other mission leaders are in a court battle over alleged “illegal conversions.” This case is now before the Supreme Court. Due to this case, for many months the court restricted Vivek’s travel back to the states to be with his wife and his daughter who is undergoing medical treatment in Texas. The court eventually granted his petition to return. As Hindu extremists continue to call for his arrest, and there is continuous negative coverage in the media, Vivek has come to the States to wait out the turmoil that is taking place ahead of the 2024 general elections. He plans to return to India after the elections are over in June.
We thank you for your continued prayers that help sustain us during these difficult times. Please join with us in praise and thanksgiving to our loving Father God for His strength and grace that allows us to continue ministering in India.
And please, pray for safety, strengthening, and courage for India’s persecuted Christians as they celebrate with you the Resurrection this year.
I just wanted to find out how Vivek is doing with his legal issues in India. I hope all is well with him and his family.
