TRANSCRIPT:

Meghan:
Oh my gosh.

Josh:
Listen, I’m not as scared as you are. I don’t know why. I’m chill.

Meghan:
You’re chill.

Josh:
I’m chill about it.

Meghan:
You’re probably going to be scared if it’s positive.

Josh:
You’re like, uh…

Meghan:
It’s hard not to smile because I’m so excited.

Josh:
Okay, well let’s do it.

Meghan:
Okay, here we go.

Doctor’s office:
Hi Meghan, this is Dolly calling from Dr. Randall Lloyd’s office. I do see a message here that you left asking for all your results to be left on your voicemail, positive or negative. I will let you know that I am not calling with good results today. Your HCG did come back as a negative pregnancy test. Please call the office tomorrow. And we can discuss further details…

Josh:
No way. Well.

Meghan:
Sorry.

Josh:
Don’t be sorry. Come on. Don’t be sorry.

Meghan:
I don’t know how much I can take of this.

Josh:
I know. It just doesn’t make any sense. It was…

Meghan:
Like, I’m young and healthy. That was twins. Like those were two of our babies. It makes it even more sad that we didn’t get to see those three. We didn’t get to know them. Those are boys, girls. I don’t know. I felt like the desire was put on my heart and it’s such a God-given desire for women to want to conceive their own genetic children. So having that desire and knowing that it’s God-given, it’s hard to push that away. You don’t. You, you chase. And that’s what we did.

Josh:
That’s what we did. We chased it for nearly seven years. We did a total of three cycles of IVF.

Meghan:
Right. So we transferred three times. We felt, at that point was to transfer one embryo. That embryo took. We got pregnant. Once we were told we were pregnant and I saw a positive pregnancy test, I didn’t look back. I felt bulletproof. I got pregnant, I’m healthy, this is great and then I miscarried and nobody can prepare you for that.

Josh:
Just as a whole church body, and a family, you guys have no idea how many people were praying for us specifically.

Meghan:
They couldn’t probably know.

Josh:
No, I mean there’s everything, we’ve been praying for you, we’ve been praying for you. And that’s a huge deal. So the second time, once we decided that we’re going to go ahead and do another round at this, devastated once again because we had told ourselves we don’t want to do this anymore, let’s do it one more time. And sure enough the same thing again.

Meghan:
And then we got a phone call.

Josh:
Dr. Lloyd called us.

Meghan:
He wanted us to come in. He offered us a free transfer.

Josh:
So yeah. So we did it. We went down again after-

Meghan:
Round three.

Josh:
Yeah. We waited a week and a half to take a pregnancy test.

Meghan:
And it was positive. It was almost hard to believe at first just because of all that had happened. Is this really real? And a month later we delivered twin boys. Toby Spires Mader looks just like Josh but acts like me. Caleb Lee Mader looks like me, acts like Josh.

Josh:
This whole journey has finally come through after almost seven years. This is what God has blessed us with. It’s amazing. Just because we know that all this hard work and all the stress and all the planning and praying and devastation that came along with this, and this is what God has blessed us with. It means a lot to us because this wasn’t easy. So we had to really, really put our faith in, like really dig into God’s saying, if this is what you want, you’ve got to show up. You have to do something. And he did.
