Our Greater Divine Love Story – The End?

There’s a greater love. An unbelievable story of God’s love for each of us by name. At the heart of this story is God’s boundless love for and His relentless pursuit of us to forever restore our fractured love relationship with Him. We read of this in Ephesians 3:17b-19a, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge.” There’s a greater divine love story being written for each of us by name. How will our story end? It’s up to us. God so wants each and every one of us to choose Him as well as the ending He has in store for us – eternal life with Him. Will we? What will we choose? God’s ending or our own?

Sadly there’s an element of truth in the lyrics of the song, “we go looking for love in all the wrong places.” Do we ever! Case and point, the story of the lost son Jesus tells in Luke 15. Thinking he knows best; he leaves home with all his possessions and profits (what our world says brings fulfilled happiness) looking for love, meaning and acceptance, only to completely squander it. Been there before. You too? Yep! Deceieved, broken, alone and destitute-he hits rock bottom while ‘slopping the hogs’ literally. In his story, we see our own. Finally ‘coming to his senses’ he goes home; prepared to admit and own the ‘error of his ways’. While undeserving and unworthy; in a marvelous display of love – his dad sees him. And in loving compassion. dad runs to and embraces his son – reinstating his beloved son and celebrating his return. Now talk about greater love. No ‘I told you so son’ – No ‘condescending blame nor ridicule’ just love. This scene reminds of Romans 5:8, “You see, at just the right time, when we were stilll powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” For you and me. God unconditionally love us; yes, US! The unlovable, undesirable, unbecoming, undeserving and unworthy; yes, US! Now the question is, will we accept God’s provision (His Son – Jesus) to restore our fractured love relationship with Him? God so wants each and every one of us to choose Him as well as the ending He has in store for us – eternal life with Him. Will we?

Four words, “For God so loved…” (John 3:16) Powerful words of God’s greater love for all of us. There’s a greater divine love story being written for each of us by name. How will ours end? It’s up to us. Will we choose to accept Jesus? In total surrender; live by, with and for Him rather than our self? I choose God’s self-less love for me – Jesus, every day. How about you? It’s the only way to make it through life. Friends, I pray that you grasp and experience how wide, long, high and deep the love of God is in Jesus Christ. Accept Him and His love expressed today and into eternity. Now, that’s an ending! Wow!
