Job Description for Teachers
All Children's Ministry staff will complete applications including 1) a background screening and 2) a statement of faith and be growing in a personal relationship with God through regular worship and Bible study. All positions report to their team members and ultimately to the Director of Children's Ministry. Each person is a role mode and shares responsibility for building relationships with kids. Communication is vital to the team.
TEACHERS

Arrive 20 minutes before class begins.

Keep accurate registration and attendance information.

Build relationships by greeting children and parents.

Plans lesson/activities using Bible curriculum as provided.

Realize Bible facts do not make a complete lesson. Application of the Scripture needs to be appropriate to the child's age and is a critical part of our teaching.

Look for creative ways to challenge children and help them grow in their faith.

Develop schedule and structure to hour, i.e. Bible story time, application, activity, clean up.

Plan with team on a regular basis.

Plan appropriate activities/crafts to reinforce theme for the day.

Keep room, bulletin boards and storage areas beautiful, clean and organized.

Remain in class with children and ensure that only parents pick up their children.

Experienced teachers are to mentor new teachers.

Send postcards to absentees on a regular basis.

Attend orientation and teaching enrichments to enhance your skills.

Assess your teaching practices.

Requires 1 1/2 hours weekly, plus regular worship.

Length of commitment varies from 3 months, 6 months to 1 year.

Arrange substitute teacher as needed.
